4 Great Ways to Save Money on Energy

4 Great Ways to Save Money on Energy

Much of my life, I've been considered notorious for wasting energy.  When I was young, my father would sometimes call me "General Electric" due to my affinity for using electricity.  I think that there is that tendency in all of us to make use of the various comforts that modern life offers.  However, when you are paying the electric bill yourself, it causes you to think twice before cranking down the AC.  Concerned with saving money and energy, I recently tried to implement practices that can help with both.  Here are 4 ways that I came up with to help cut back on your home power bill:

  1. Unplug Appliances: This is one of those practices that I really questioned for a while.  I didn't really make sense to me why you would have to unplug your phone charger, for instance, even if it wasn't charging anything.  However, I decided to begin testing this by always unplugging my phone charger after my phone was charged.  I also began unplugging the power cord in my room at night before going to bed.  These practices have definitely proved to be smart steps to take in order to cut down on wasted power and electricity.
  2. Turn Off Lights: This can be more difficult in practice than it seems.  I know that I am prone to turning on every light in my house, especially when it starts getting dark out.  I think that part of this may just be psychological.  Perhaps light is used to fill empty spaces, even in rooms that you're not even using.  Regardless, I have taken one step to cut down on light usage by using as much daylight as possible.  I make it a point at home to make use of sunlight for as long as possible until I absolutely have to turn on a light.  I also try to use lamps closer to my work, instead of an overhead light filling up the room, as a way of saving energy.
  3. Turn Off Fans: Another tough proposition for me, especially in the summer.  I always like coming home to a cool house.  Thus, I often "forget" to turn the fans off when I leave home.  But there's really no excuse to keep fans running when you're not at home.  One thing I do now to keep the cool in my bedroom is simply shut the blinds and door when I leave.  This way I maintain some of the comfortable temperature in the house even when I am away, saving power and money.
  4. Magnetic Field Generator: This is definitely one of the most innovative of the energy saving methods.  A Magnetic Field Generator use magnetic fields to create a perpetual motion machine.  It can thus indefinitely generate electricity for your home.  A generator such as this can be used in place of traditional power or in conjunction with the city power source.  Another great thing about these generators is that they need no other resource to run, such as solar or wind power.  This makes it even more valuable than any renewable or non-renewable resource.  In addition, it doesn't give off any waste or emissions.  All things considered, this is a cutting-edge and smart way to save both wasted energy and money on an electric bill.

I hope you can make use of some or all of these tips.  I know that I have benefited from them in a variety of ways.  I wish you the best of luck in your energy and money saving endeavors!
